Kindness

We had a lesson in kindness this week. Mrs. Simon showed the class a big red heart. The heart was given to a student and while she read the story, Chrysanthemum, each child crumpled the heart when someone was mean to Chrysanthemum. Once the story was finished the students tried smooth the heart, but it's not quite the same and never will be. We put band-aids on the heart and hung the heart in the classroom as a visual to remind ourselves: Before you speak think and be smart. It's hard to fix a wrinkled heart.

Energy Bus

Our principal, Mrs. Beenblossom, read to our class. The story she read was Energy Bus. Energy Bus taught us strategies for how to have a great day at school, everyday! Thanks for coming into our classroom, Mrs. Beenblossom!

Welcome to the 2013-2014 School Year Second Graders!

Today was our first day of school for the 2013-2014 school year! It was a hot and sticky day, but we survived and had a great day together! I have a great group of students and I can't wait for all the learning that will take place this year!
