First Grade Rocks, Silt, and Sand
First grade is busy learning about rocks, sand, and silt in science. Today students observed, classified, and organized rocks based on their observations. Students were able to categorize the rocks into groups based on color, texture, hardness, and weight. Then students rubbed rocks together under a white and black piece of paper. Students noticed that they were able to create sand and dust by rubbing two rocks together.
